Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Receives top national quality rating

Berlin, VT – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) is among the most highly ranked commercial health plans nationally, as assessed by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The recently released 2018-2019 Private Health Insurance Plan Ratings comprehensively compare and rate the quality and services of health plans in the United States. There were 1,040 plans rated by NCQA last year. Only 8%, or 47 private (commercial) health plans in the country, received a top rating of 4.5 out of 5 or higher. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is proud to achieve this rating.

NCQA bases the rating results on both clinical performance and consumer experience. NCQA evaluates health plans on a number of important standards including quality management and improvement, population health, network management, utilization management, provider credentialing and network management, member connections and member rights and responsibilities. NCQA uses data to effectively measure clinical care and service performance. The rating methodology emphasizes care outcomes and patient satisfaction with their experience.

NCQA releases the health plan ratings annually to offer members of the public information to more fully inform their health care coverage choices for the upcoming year. In order for NCQA to include a health plan in the ratings, they must meet NCQA Health Plan Accreditation standards. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont works hard every day to ensure high quality and the best customer service to its members and appreciates the national recognition of our efforts.
