Regence BlueShield announces Claire Verity as new president

SEATTLE – Regence BlueShield announced Claire Verity as its new market president, effective today. Verity replaces Tim Lieb, who decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities after four years as market president.

Verity will continue Regence’s success in Washington, bringing more than 20 years of industry experience, particularly in sales and business development, and a deep understanding of Washington and the Pacific Northwest. She was most recently president and CEO of a national health plan in the Pacific Northwest, where she drove record membership and revenue growth.

“Claire’s understanding of the Washington health care landscape and her growth mindset make her the right leader at the right time for Regence,” said Angela Dowling, chief revenue officer. “She will continue our commitment to providing high-quality care at an affordable price for Regence’s members in Washington.”

Verity will lead an organization that serves more than 1 million members in Washington. She will build on Regence’s momentum in the market to drive innovative product solutions that improve the health care experience for people and their families.

In addition to her strong business leadership, Verity is also known for her community commitment, including serving on the boards of directors for All Hands Raised and NWCenter, and she was a founder of Daring Women, a series featured in Seattle Business Magazine.

Verity is from the Northwest. She and her husband, Jim, have two adult children, Sam, 25, and Christian, 29. The whole family is in the insurance industry.

She will be based at Regence BlueShield’s downtown Seattle office.
